Overview
Importing data into Atlas lets you bulk upload information such as records, objects, or assets efficiently. This guide explains how to prepare your data file, configure import settings, and correctly map fields to ensure a successful import.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare Your Data File
- Supported file formats:
- CSV (Comma-Separated Values)
- XLSX (Excel Spreadsheet)
- JSON (JavaScript Object Notation)
- Ensure the data is clean and structured:
- Column headers should accurately reflect the fields in Atlas.
- Remove duplicates or irrelevant data.
- Date formats should be consistent (e.g., YYYY-MM-DD).
2. Access the Data Import Tool
- Log in to your Atlas account.
- From the main dashboard or menu, click on Import or Data Import.
3. Upload Your Data File
- Click the Choose File or Browse button.
- Select your prepared data file from your computer.
- Click Upload or Next to proceed.
4. Map Data Fields
- You will see a screen displaying your file’s columns on one side and Atlas fields on the other.
- For each column in your file, select the corresponding Atlas field it should import into.
- Use the preview to verify sample data matches the correct fields.
5. Configure Import Options
- Choose import behavior:
- Create new records only
- Update existing records (requires unique ID match)
- Overwrite existing records
- Select additional options as needed (e.g., skip duplicates, notify on errors).
6. Start the Import
- Review a summary of your mappings and settings.
- Click Import or Start Import to begin the process.
7. Monitor Import Progress
- A progress bar or status indicator will display the import status.
- After completion, a summary report will show:
- Number of records imported
- Successfully updated
- Errors or warnings encountered
8. Verify Imported Data
- Navigate to the relevant Atlas module (e.g., Objects, Records).
- Confirm the new data is correctly added or updated as expected.
- Check any error logs if issues occurred and correct your data if needed.
Troubleshooting Common Import Issues
- File format errors: Make sure the file extension matches the content and complies with Atlas requirements.
- Field mismatches: Double-check column-to-field mappings carefully.
- Data validation errors: Clean data for required formats and mandatory fields.
- Duplicate records: Decide on overwrite or skip strategy depending on your needs.
